On Friday, Feb 5th, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that it was unconstitutional for the State of California to prohibit indoor worship. As a result, the State has made a change to it’s monitoring system allowing indoor worship in the purple tier, at 25% of a buildings’ capacity. This means that St. Matthias will resume the Saturday 5:00 pm Mass inside the Church starting on Saturday, February 13th. All the previous COVID protocols will be in place, i.e. check-in attendance for contact tracing, assigned seating for parishioners to maintain at least 6ft distance between households, mandatory masks, hand sanitizer, open windows and doors for air flow, and wiping down seating areas at the end of Mass. We will also continue to celebrate the Sunday 9:45 am Mass outdoors.
San Mateo County was moved into the purple tier effective November 29th which means that we can no longer allow attendees at indoor Masses.
Starting next weekend, December 5-6th we will have one Mass per weekend on Sunday morning at 9:45 am. This Mass will be held outdoors in the Church parking lot and will be live streamed to our YouTube channel.
Mass for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, a Holy Day of Obligation on Tuesday, December 8th at 7:00 pm will be live streamed.
Based on the results of the poll conducted at the 9:30 am Mass on Nov 15th and the data received from the “Mass – Indoors or Outdoors” survey, we will continue to celebrate the Sunday morning Mass outdoors through the winter months. In the event of rain, Mass will be moved inside the Church. We will continue to celebrate the Saturday 5:00 pm Mass in the Church.
Please note: Starting Nov 29th – the 9:30 am Mass will be at 9:45 am.
